Overview

MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of severe ulcerative colitis and in differentiating ulcerative colitis from Crohn's disease. Initial changes in the mucosa may not be detectable on MRI.[1][2]

  • Initial changes in the mucosa may not be detected by MRI.
  • Thickened wall of the bowel may be seen.
