Human pancreatic polypeptide is produced by F cells in the islets. It is a linear polypeptide that contains 36 amino acid residues.

Although, its exact physiologic function is uncertain, it slows the absorption of food in humans, and it may smooth out the peaks and valleys of absorption. [1]
