Overview

Thrombosis is the formation of a thrombus(clot) inside a blood vessel, which obstruct the flow of blood. A piece of thrombus that is transported in this way is an embolus (plural emboli): the process of forming an emboli from a thrombus is called a thromboembolism.'. The term was coined in 1848 by Rudolph Carl Virchow.[1]
