Overview

An x-ray may be helpful in the diagnosis of a hiatus hernia. Findings on an x-ray suggestive of a hiatus hernia include retrocardiac opacity with the air-fluid level.

  • An x-ray may be helpful in the diagnosis of a hiatus hernia. Findings on an x-ray suggestive hiatus hernia include:[1][2]
    • An upright radiograph of chest in patients with paraesophageal hernias reveals retro-cardiac air-fluid level
