Overview

The Bennett fracture is an intraarticular fracture that separates the palmar ulnar aspect of the first metacarpal base from the remaining first metacarpal and known as the most common fracture found in the base of the thumb. The early diagnosis and treatment are imperative to prevent loss of function of this highly mobile human joint system. In 1882, Edward Hallaran Bennett, described the fracture of the base of the thumb.
