Overview

Oral CT scan may be diagnostic of oral cancer.

CT findings

A CT scan can provide information about the size, shape and position of any tumor and may help identify enlarged lymph nodes. CT scan may be done for a number of reasons both before and after a cancer diagnosis, which include:

  • To diagnose oral cancer
  • To learn how far cancer may have spread
  • To help determine if treatment has been effective
  • To look for possible signs of cancer recurrence after treatment
