Education

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh), Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. I officially graduated with Excellence with Honors in June 2016 (Among top Class Graduates; Summa Cum Laude).

Current Position

  • Postdoctoral Research Fellow at PERFUSE Study Group, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.
  • Associate Editor-in-Chief at WikiDoc Foundation (WikiDoc.org)
  • Review Editor, Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine (Cardio-Oncology Section), Frontiers Publishers, Switzerland.

Research Impact

  • My research has shown the value of iFR and MD-CT in the assessment of challenging coronary lesions (bifurcation and chronic total occlusion).
  • Our research established the non-inferiority of TAVR to SAVR in low-to-moderate risk patients with aortic stenosis and compared the outcomes of different valves.
  • In cardio-oncology, we assessed the burden of cardiac tumors, cancer-related cardiac death, and effects of cancer on PCI outcomes.
  • Through basic research, we uncovered the value of some therapeutics as diosmin, fucoidan, metformin, and telmisartan in preventing chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity.
  • Research cited in 12 national/international guidelines, drug updates, and state policies.
  • Overall, my research was cited about 800 times according to Google Scholar (h-index: 17) and 600 times according to Scopus Database (h-index: 14).
  • More than 30 papers listed by the NICE Guidelines website as reliable sources of evidence.
  • Research covered in Scientific American and Atlas of Science magazine.
