The first comprehensive clinical report of chronic lymphocytic leukemia was published by Dr. George Minot, an American physician, in 1924.[1]
Historical Perspective
- The pathology of leukemia was first described in 1845 by Dr. John Hughes Bennett and Dr. Rudolph Virchow.
- In 1889, the first subdivision of leukemia into acute and chronic forms was first reported by Dr. Wilhelm Ebstein in 1889.
- In 1893, clinical data and case summaries were developed by Dr. Hans Kundrat, to diagnose chronic lymphocytic leukemia as an independent entity.
