Overview
Interstitial lung disease , refers to a group of lung diseases , affecting the alveolar epithelium, pulmonarycapillary endothelium, basement membrane, perivascular and perilymphatic tissues. The term ILD is used to distinguish these diseases from obstructive airways diseases. Most types of ILD involve starts with expansion of interstitium and fibroblast proliferation among alveoli and bronchioles ending by abnormal collagen deposition, that could cause lung fibrosis.
