Overveiw

MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of complications of vulvar cancer, which include staging of the tumor, assessing extent of disease and selecting operable versus inoperable candidates.

Pelvic MRI

There are no MRI findings associated with vulvar cancer. However, a MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of complications of vulvar cancer, which include:[1][2]

  • Staging of the tumor
  • Assessing extent of disease
  • Selecting operable versus inoperable candidates
  • Evaluating inguinal and/or femoral node involvement (the most significant prognostic factor for survival)
