• Urine pH is the gold standard test for the diagnosis of renal tubular acidosis.
• The following result of urine pH is confirmatory of renal tubular acidosis:
  • Urine pH of 5.3 or less.
  • In most cases of distal renal tubular acidosis, the urine pH is persistently 5.5 or higher
