Laboratory Findings

• Blood studies, including a complete blood count ( CBC) and differential, serum chemistries, clotting studies.
• Upper GI bleeding will sometimes also be associated with a rise in the blood urea nitrogen (BUN) as blood components are absorbed by the GI tract.
