Jump to navigation Jump to search

Fothergill's sign is a medical sign. It can be elicited by:

  • Making the patient touch his chest using his chin
  • While in this position, press on the patient's abdomen
  • While the abdomen is being pressed, ask the intensity of the pain
  • If the pain felt is increased or has the same intensity, then it is positive, this means that the lesion is located on the abdominal wall
  • If the pain felt is reduced, then the lesion is suggested to be intraabdominal
