Elizabeth Anionwu

Professor Elizabeth Anionwu RN PhD CBE FRCN is Emeritus Professor of Nursing at Thames Valley University. Before her retirement in August 2007 she was a nurse and Head of the Mary Seacole Centre for Nursing Practice (Faculty of Health and Human Sciences at Thames Valley University) and Honorary Professor of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Currently she is also Vice-Chairperson of the Mary Seacole Memorial Statue Appeal.[1]

Her involvement with Mary Seacole, who became a heroine of the Crimean War, related to the multi-ethnic aspects of nursing and midwifery education, and the practice issues of sickle cell and thalassaemia.

She is a fellow of the Royal College of Nursing.
