There are no established diagnostic study of choice for dextrocardia. Despite that, many diagnostic studies may be useful, including the electrocardiogram and the chest x-ray which are both inexpensive and may be very suggestive of this condition.

Chest X-ray

  • May show the following changes:[1]
    • Cardiac apex pointing to the right
    • Right-sided aortic arch
    • Right hemidiaphragm presenting at a lower level compared to the left.

Electrocardiogram
