Rolling circle replication plasmids contain a number of mechanisms to maintain a low copy number. One of these methods is to transcribe a small RNA called ctRNA (for counter-transcribed RNA) than is transcribed on the opposite strand to RepB the replication initiation protein. ctRNA binds to the mRNA of repB and causes translational inhibition [1].
