Editor-In-Chief: C. Michael Gibson, M.S., M.D. [1] Dheeraj Makkar, M.D.[2]
- Nonspecific:
No direct laboratory marker confirms CTS.
- Supportive / Etiologic evaluation:
- Thyroid function tests: Hypothyroidism is a known risk factor.
- Fasting glucose / HbA1c: To evaluate for diabetes mellitus, which is associated with peripheral neuropathy and CTS.
- Vitamin B12 levels: To rule out concomitant neuropathy.
- Rheumatologic markers (ESR, CRP, ANA, RF): May be obtained if inflammatory arthritis (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, lupus) is suspected.
- Uric acid: Considered in suspected gout-related CTS.
