History and Symptoms

A directed history should be obtained to ascertain:

• Symptom progression
• Associated complaints
• Urinary complaints
• Exposure to medications and illness
• Past medical history (including previous episodes of discomfort)

Acute Abdomen

Patients with an Ischemic type of acute abdomen present with symptoms of:

• Diffuse abdominal pain
• Bowel distension
• Bloody diarrhea
