Majority of patients with trichuriasis infection are asymptomatic. In patients with high burden of adult worms present with the following symptoms:
Most frequently asymptomatic. Symptoms range from mild to severe. Sometimes, there are no symptoms. Heavy infections, especially in small children, can cause gastrointestinal problems ([[abdominal pain]], [[diarrhea]], [[rectal prolapse]]) and possibly growth retardation. Severe infections may cause:
*Epigastric and lower abdominal pain
 
*Vomiting
* [[Bloody diarrhea]]
*Flatulence and abdominal distention
* [[Iron-deficiency anemia]]
*Headache
* [[Fecal incontinence]] (during [[sleep]])
*Weight loss’
* [[Rectal prolapse]]
*Bloody diarrhea  
*Abdominal pain and tenesmus
*Rectal prolapse
