Overview

There are no characteristic MRI findings associated with hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer. In some cases, findings associated with hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer, may include: visualization of tumor depth into rectal wall (useful for pre-operative assessment) and lymph node involvement.

MRI

  • MRC is not routinely used for the diagnosis of hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer.
  • Although MRC is associated with less discomfort than colonoscopy, it has poor sensitivity in detecting small polyps, limiting its utility in adenoma screening at this time.
