* Difficulty in passing’ theory of mind tasks
* Executive dysfunction
* Tendency to interpret visual stimuli in parts rather than wholes (poor central coherence)

Overview

Routine neuroimaging, electroencephalography (EEG) and genetic testing are not recommended in patients with Asperger Syndrome (AS).

Neuroimaging

Routine clinical neuroimaging such as CT, MRI, single-photon emission CT (SPECT), or positron emission tomography (PET) are not recommended in patients with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).[1][2]

Electroencephalography (EEG)

Routine electroencephalography (EEG) is not recommended in all patients with ASD and is recommended if there is a history of seizures or a history of regression.[2]

Genetic testing

Genetic testing is not routinely indicated in patients with ASD.[2]
