Overview

Blind loop syndrome is a medical condition that occurs when the intestine is obstructed, slowing or stopping the progress of digested food, and thus facilitating the growth of bacteria to the point that problems in nutrient absorption occur.

The treatment includes both medical and surgical therapy.

The treatment generally depends upon the cause of the blind loop syndrome.

  • Sometimes, blind loop cannot be reversed completely, in these cases, treatment is focused on correcting nutritional deficiencies and eliminating bacterial overgrowth by treating with antibiotics.
