Professional Background

Dr. Qasim Salau graduated from University of Ilorin, Medical School in January 2003 with an MBBS degree. After graduation, Dr. Salau worked as a house officer at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Nigeria where he rotated through the departments of Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetric and Gynaecology, and Surgery from May 2003 to April 2004. He did his compulsory National Youth Service (NYSC) in Ekiti State, Nigeria, where he was the medical officer at the state secretariat clinic from September 2004 to August 2005. After his NYSC, he worked briefly at the federal medical centre, Katsina, Nigeria as a medical officer in the department of Paediatrics before going to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital for his residency/ fellowship training in Paediatrics from May 2006 to December 2012 where he obtained Fellowship of the Medical College in Paediatrics from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in June 2013. He has been working as a consultant Paediatrician/ Neonatologist at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, south-west Nigeria since November 2013. He is a member of professional medical bodies in Nigeria. He currently works as post-doctoral research fellow at PERFUSE Study Group at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston as well as associate editor-in-chief at WikiDoc Foundation.
