Myeloproliferative disease may be classified according to the World Health Organization into eight subtypes: chronic myelogenous leukemia, chronic neutrophilic leukemia, polycythemia vera, primary myelofibrosis, essential thrombocythemia, chronic eosinophilic leukemia, mastocytosis, and myeloproliferative neoplasms, unclassifiable.[1]
