Overview

MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of laryngeal cancer. Findings on MRI suggestive of laryngeal cancer include intermediate to low signal mass and soft tissue enhancement.[1]

MRI

Findings on MRI suggestive of hypopharyngeal cancer include:[1]

MRI Component Features
T1
  • Intermediate to low signal mass
T1 weighted image with Gadolinium contrast
  • Enhancement usually present
  • Larger tumors of nodal metastases may be centrally necrotic
T2
  • Intermediate to high signal
