Overview

Infertility treatment such as in vitro fertilization and artificial insemination are associated with an increase in cost of therapy to couples pursuing them. They are often faced with the burden of financial troubles versus having a child, which affects their mental health negatively.

Cost-effectiveness of therapy

  • IVF is an expensive procedure which more often than not increases out-of-pocket expenditure for couples putting them under financial strain. [1]
  • IVF and other procedures are also associated with prolonged hospital stays and in many cases, multiple gestations. [2]
  • Having multiple children at a time is also a financial strain for couples who undergo an already expensive procedure like IVF.
