Overview

Classification

Based on tissue involvement, human papillomavirus (HPV) is classified in to 3 main groups:

  • Cutaneous
  • Anogenital
  • Other Mucosal surfaces

Currently, 210 different types of HPV have been discovered and the number keeps increasing.[1][2] Clinical manifestations depend on which HPV type involve which anatomic area.

Gonococcal Urethritis Preferred:
Ceftriaxone 250 mg IM in a single dose
PLUS
Azithromycin 1 g PO in a single dose

Alternative:

Recurrent and Persistent Urethritis
Metronidazole 2 g PO in a single dose
or
