Overview
Essential thrombocytosis was first clearly described by its synonym Hemorrhagic thrombocythemia by Australian pathologists Emil Epstein and Alfred Goedel in the year 1934.[1] Later in the 1950's, ET was grouped undermyelo proliferative disorders along with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), polycythemia vera (PV), and chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis(CIMF).
