Basal Cell Carcinoma Risk Factors
The following are risk factors for the development of basal cell carcinoma[1]:
- Current immunosuppressive therapy after organ transplantation
- Personal history of skin cancer
- Two or more first-degree relatives with melanoma
- Total of 100 nevi or at least five atypical (dysplastic) nevi
- More than 250 treatments with psoralen plus ultraviolet A (UVA) therapy for psoriasis
- Radiation therapy for cancer as a child
