Captured in July, 2014, during an outbreak of chikungunya among Caribbean non-travelers, this image depicts Officer Steve Webster of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Dept. of Health, and an entomologist from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), John-Paul Mutebi (in the hat), as the two men were conducting assessments at the rear of a residence, where they were taking samples from a pool that was partially filled with stagnant, algae-choked water. This study was carried out in the city of Christiansted on St. Croix island.
