Prognosis

  • Depending on the extent of the meningioma at the time of diagnosis, the prognosis may vary. However, the prognosis is generally regarded as good.[1]
  • The table below lists common prognostic factors for meningioma:[2]
Prognostic Factor Description
Age Older patients have worse prognosis than younger patients.[2]
Anatomical location The tumor location is an important predictor for the success of the surgical resection.[2]
Labeling index using MIB-1 test A greater index is associated with a worse prognosis.[2]
Histological grade A grade 3 anaplastic meningioma has the worst prognosis.[2]
Functional neurological status Low score on the Karnofsky Performance Scale predicts a worse prognosis.[2]
