- Rorschach test: This test is a standardized set of 10 inkblots scored by the examiner.
- Thematic apperception test (TAT): A series of 30 pictures showing ambiguous situations and interpersonal events. Patients are asked to create a story about each picture. Patients with major depressive disorder tend to create depressed stories.
