Magnified 956X, this Gram-stained photomicrograph depicted numbers of the Gram-positive Clostridium innocuum bacteria, which had been cultivated in a thioglycollate fluid medium, over a time period of 24 hours. Clostridium is a genus of anaerobic, spore forming bacteria in the family Bacillaceae. Note the terminal spores seen as swellings at the ends of a number of these bacteria.
