Classification

Signs and symptoms of thyroid disease can be related to the following: ^[1] ^[2]

Hyperthyroidism

Excess production of thyroid hormones. This would include symptoms of:

Diarrhea
Hair loss
Hyperhidrosis
Intolerance of the heat
Motor agitation with small tremors
Muscle weakness
Ravenous hunger
Tachycardia
Warm sweaty skin
Weight loss

Hypothyroidism

Insufficient production of thyroid hormones. Symptoms include:

Apathy
Bradycardia
Constipation
Deceleration of reflexes
General weakness
Hypotension
Hypothermia with cool skin and cold intolerance
Muscular spasms
Paresthesias
Psychic impairment
Weight gain

Goiter:

An enlargement of the thyroid.
