Types

There are two types of Hypertension:

Primary: not related to another medical condition

Secodary: Another medical condition that causes high blood pressure, including:

Symptoms

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, if it's extremely high it might causes symptoms like:

  • Sever headache
  • Fatigue or confusion
  • Blurry vision
  • Chest pain
  • Dyspnea
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Bloody urine
  • Pounding sensation in the patient's chest, neck, or ears

Risk Factors

High blood pressure has many risk factors, including:

  • Age
  • Race
  • Family history
  • Overweight and obesity
  • Tobacco
  • High sodium or low potassium diet
  • Diabetes
  • Lack of physical activity
  • Stress

Complications

Uncontrolled Hypertension can cause serious problems, such as:

  • Heart attack or stroke
  • Aneurysm
  • Heart failure
  • Kidney damage
  • Vision problems
  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
  • Hypertensive crisis
  • Sexual dysfunction
