Nitrazoxanide, also nitazoxanide, is a new thiazolide drug. It is used as an antiparasitic drug against cryptosporidiosis. It can also be used against other intestinal protozoa, such as Giardia. It has shown early promise as a treatment for hepatitis C. Known side-effects are mostly gastrointestinal. It has been marketed under the trade name Alinia.
