Template:Infobox Anatomy The danger space is a region of the neck adjacent to the alar fascia.

It was first characterized in 1938.[1] [2]

It gets its common name from the risk that an infection in this space can spread directly to the thorax.

It can be characterized as part of the retropharyngeal space, or as part of the prevertebral space.[3]
