  • Avoiding gluten-containing diet is the only proven secondary preventive measure.[1]
  • If hyposplenism ensues, vaccination against encapsulated organisms such as meningococci and St. Pneumoniae is important.
  • Vitamin replacement therapy is another aspect of secondary prevention.
  • Bone loss prevention must take in to consideration to decrease risk of osteoporosis.
