Overview

Effective measures for the secondary prevention of Celiac disease include avoiding gluten-containing diet and vaccination against encapsulated organisms in cases of hyposplenism.

Secondary Prevention

  • Avoiding gluten-containing diet is the only proven secondary preventive measure.[1]
  • If hyposplenism ensues, vaccination against encapsulated organisms such as meningococci and strept. Pneumoniae is important.
