Achlorhydria is caused by intrinsic and extrinsic changes in the [[gastrointestinal]] system, including uptake of [[antibodies]] and [[bacterial infection]]. Less commonly, it can be caused by [[cancer]], a life-threatening cause requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Overview
