Overview
A cardiac stress test (CST) is an evaluation modality in which the ability of the heart to respond to stress, either induced by exercise or stimulated by pharmacologic agents, is measured in a controlled clinical setting. CST can be performed in chronic aortic regurgitation to evaluate the functional capacity and symptomatic response among patients with a history of equivocal symptoms.

Cardiac Stress Test (DO NOT EDIT)[1]
Class IIa |
"1. Exercise stress test for chronic AR is reasonable for assessment of functional capacity and symptomatic response in patients with a history of equivocal symptoms. (Level of Evidence: B)" |
"2. Exercise stress test for patients with chronic AR is reasonable for the evaluation of symptoms and functional capacity before participation in athletic activities. (Level of Evidence: C)" |
Class IIb |
"1. Exercise stress test in patients with radionuclide angiography may be considered for assessment of LV function in asymptomatic or symptomatic patients with chronic AR. (Level of Evidence: B)" |
