Titanic acid refers to the chemical compound with the formula H2TiO3. This formula corresponds to the hydrate of titanium dioxide, although well defined, homogeneous samples of titanic acid have not been reported. Species of this or related composition are obtained by hydrolysis of certain titanium alkoxides and the so-called titanates. Such species are used as a mordant.
