(WikiDoc) - Elderly people who are frequently tired during the day may have a higher risk of dying from cardiovascular disease, according to a study in the journal Stroke. Researchers found those who were frequently sleepy were 33 percent more likely to die overall and 49 percent more likely to die from a cardiovascular event. The French study looked at 9,294 elderly patients who had no evidence of preexisting cancer or CD, and adjusted for risk factors like age, gender and body mass index. The researchers admit, though, they were unsure whether the sleep complaints were a symptom of underlying disease or whether sleepiness could trigger or worsen a disease.
