Fallopian tube obstruction

Fallopian tube obstruction is a cause of female tubal infertility. The fallopian tubes are unable to let the ovum and the sperm converge, thus making fertilization impossible.

Cause

Most commonly a tube may be obstructed due to infection (i.e. pelvic inflammatory disease). Other processes that may occlude or disable the tube include tubal ligation procedures, adhesions due to previous surgery, endometriosis, appendicitis, peritonitis, and more.

Treatment

By tuboplasty, the fallopian tubes can be restored to function.
