Overview

Apart from X-rays, CT scan, MRI scan a few other imaging studies are used. These include PET scan mainly which is very helpful in diagnosis of limbic encephalopahty.

Other diagnostic studies

PET scan

  • It is useful in diagnosis of certain brain lesion which are tough to detect using CT and MRI.
  • It is useful in diagnosis of limbic encephalopathy[1]
  • It is most useful in diagnosis of encephalopathy caused by antibodies in paraneoplastic syndromes
